Audio Upgrade - Presonus Eris Studio 5

For a long time I had Sony SRS-D9 as the desktop speaker. Bought it for 5500 Rs in 2012 and it was used sparingly. Primary reason being I never had a proper setup
for that. And second reason was it was very much bass heavy. Also the bass being boomy did not help a lot.
Finally after 14 years we sold it and I decided to get something much better. Turns out now a days there are many options. The studio monitors are quite affordable now. In fact for about 20-25k there are excellent choices like Kali Audio LP6-v2. It was slightly out of budget and having availability issues. So I looked around and finalized Presonus Eris Studio 5. This one is a proper monitor with a 5” main driver and a separate tweeter. It’s rated at 80W and supports RCA, TRS and XLR balanced inputs.
I was able to find some space on my desk and this cost me about 16000 INR. Came with a nice power cord. Thankfully I had ordered a 2.5mm to RCA cable. And also looked up how to set output to mono on windows as I right now have only one speaker. So I was able to get started quickly.
This is not the ideal solution though. And definitely I can hear the noise seeping in. I had known there would be noise with RCA cable and a desktop. It also means that I need to put more money and get an audio interface which will get digital audio out from PC. And then I can use XLR audio cable for clean audio from interface to the speakers. Yeah more money but the sound is something.
Thankfully I have found couple of Mackie or Behringer interfaces and they are about 6-7k so quite cheap. Or I can spend double and get a very nice high quality audio interface.
So basic expense to kit out the system properly another 23-25k to get the best out. But that’s for another month or another pay cycle. As it is, it’s pretty good. Well, so the gaming system is coming around rather quite well. Cheers!!
